Join us at the Bedrace for Bridging

Ready. Set. GO!

This Saturday, March 5th, the AK Team will be joining businesses and other groups from around the state at the Subway Bedrace for Bridging! While we’ve run a lot of races on foot, this year’s Bedrace for Bridging will be the first time (for charity, anyway) we’ll be racing down Buck Hill on queen-sized mattresses in hopes of attaining glory, a first place prize, a fun time, and most importantly, a contribution to an important local non-profit. We’re talking real queen-sized mattresses, all of which will be donated to Briding after the event. In addition to the mattresses, all proceeds from the event, including donations, registration fees, and funds raised by Bucks for Bridging teams will go directly to Bridging, who works to help families who are transitioning out of homelessness by furnishing homes. The Twin-Cities-based non-profit was started in 1987, and is now the largest furniture bank in North America.

We’ll be rocking our superhero spandex and racing with hundreds of other participants in a minimum of two downhill slides toward the finish line in a bracket-style tournament that offers prizes for the top three finishers, as well as the top three teams receiving the most votes in the Cities 97 Costume Contest. With sunny skies and a tropical 40 degrees predicted as the high for Saturday, the stage is set for a fun time for both racers and supporters.

The event kicks off at 3:00 P.M. with check-in, and racing starts at 5:00. After that, a post-race concert will keep the fun going at 7:00, followed by the awards ceremony at 8:00. Shuttles will be taking racers and spectators to the hill and back from Burnsville Mall throughout the event, with the last shuttle leaving at 11:00.

We hope to see you there! If you’re unable to race, the hill is open to spectators, and food and beverages will be available at the chalet. If you can’t make it, please consider making a small donation to our Bucks for Bridging team.
